Un th\u00e9\u00e2tre  animalier se dessine ainsi au travers d\u2019un ensemble de vid\u00e9o et  d\u2019installations. <br>\u00abUn poulet qui d\u00e9p\u00e8ce tranquillement un lapin, une orgie sexuelle et d\u00e9routante entre deux poulets, une maison fa\u00e7on Ikea o\u00f9 ne subsiste que les traces f\u00e9cales d\u2019une pr\u00e9sence animale\u2026<br>Le vocable animalier de Philippe Charles nous entra\u00eene dans un  univers o\u00f9 le grotesque d\u00e9samorce constamment la violence sous-jacente  des images.<br>Entre malaise et ironie, les vid\u00e9o-installations de Philippe  Charles ouvre le champ d\u2019une critique politique et sociable acerbe. La  m\u00e9taphore animale ainsi d\u00e9clin\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019obsession nous renvoie \u00e0 des  probl\u00e9matiques bien humaines. Ne nous y trompons pas, au travers de ces  mises en sc\u00e8ne violentes et absurdes, l\u2019artiste nous livre sa vision  d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 industrielle et d\u00e9shumanis\u00e9e, o\u00f9 l\u2019asservissement et la  bestialit\u00e9 sont omnipr\u00e9sents contredisant par la m\u00eame l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019une  utopie sociale (Rousseau), champ\u00eatre et bucolique.\u00bb<br>         Sandra Patron<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.philippecharles.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/pattes.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1322\"\/><figcaption>image extraite de la vid\u00e9o \u00ab\u00a0le r\u00eave de Martin\u00a0\u00bb<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:14px\">(1997-2000)<br>Chickens are placed in human environments or  shown carrying out human activities. An animal theatre is created  through this series of video and installation works.<br>\u00abA chicken slowly cutting a rabbit\u2019s skin, a sexual and confusing orgy between two chickens, an Ikea-like house where only fecal traces  of an animal presence remain\u2026 the animal vocabulary by Philippe Charles  leads us in a world where the grotesque constantly unlocks the  underlying violence of images.<br>Between discomfort and irony, the video installations by Philippe Charles opens the field for sharp political and social criticism. The animal metaphor conjuged to the point of obsession brings us  back to typically human problematics. Let us not fool ourselves, thought  these violent and absurd scenarii, the artist gives us his vision of an  industrial and dehumanized society, where servility and bestiality are  ever present, contradicting in this very way the idea of a social, rural  and bucolic utopia \u00e0 la Rousseau.\u00bb<br>         Sandra Patron.
